Belgrade Tour II – The Meadow

The Meadow was a very popular meeting place for dog owners when I got Cookie, and until recently. Cookie met his first friends there, and he was mostly socialized with dogs that frequented the Meadow back in 2006 and 2007.

The Meadow is located outside the Partizan football club’s stadium. It’s a moderately big area covered in grass, a good distance from the road, which is probably why it was very popular among dog owners. They could let their dogs run free without much fear.

We met many friends at the Meadow, and we still keep in touch with most of them. Nowadays we walk to the Meadow and back home almost every morning. It’s been a long time since I last saw dogs playing there.

Before I bought a car, it was handy to pass through the Meadow on our way to the Fountain or to Hyde Park, which I’ll write about in the following posts.

Belgrade Tour I – the closest park

Cookie and I live in the city of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. Hence, we will start with Belgrade parks that we have visited and are still visiting. The first post in this blog will be of our little park – the first place Cookie saw and sniffed when he came to our home.

The park under our building

We live in a 10-story high building. In Belgrade, parks are usually being developed in the middle of building complexes. This way, we have a lovely small park just under our noses, and it has helped immensly with Cookie’s housetraining when he was a puppy. It’s also a big relief during the hot summer months as it provides the neighborhood with plenty of shade. Also it really comes in handy for short potty walks before bed.

Apart from short walks, when Cookie was younger we also met for playdates with dogs from the neighborhood.
